Holding zone!

After 2 hours at the bar, we made the final 10 foot plunge into the holograph area and received our walker completion shirts and a rose. I gave mine to Kelly of course!

60 miles, check! (part 2)

60 miles, check!

Enjoying a beer after finishing the walk and waiting for closing ceremonies to begin.

Less than 2 miles left

Downtown San Diego is in sight!

Lunch!

14.0 miles down.
2.7 to go.
I am so excited for the bar, words cannot describe it.

Mahalo! (pit stop 3)

11.7 miles down.
5.0 to go.
We just passed these supporters with "Mahalo" signs. If you have not heard the story about Nick Brizendine's road rage in Hawaii, make sure to ask.

Pit stop 2

6.0 miles down.
10.7 miles to go.
Kelly is developing a gambling problem. Just kidding. It's a string cheese problem.

Big Melons

More supporters

Pink beard + metal TaTas = awesome outfit.

Pit stop 1

3.7 miles down.
13.0 miles to go.
Kelly is already starting to lose it- she is booty shaking with these booty ladies that have been cheering with their booties for 3 days now. No literally. Thy have a dance track and just shake their booties for the entire day. I wonder if they are accepting applications.

Rain

It's raining.

Departure Queue

A majority of walkers lined up for the 7 am starting gun. And by "gun" I mean "anticlimactic build up to waiting in line as they check everyone out one by one with their scanners". SO EXCITING! 16 miles to go!!!!!!!!!

New look vol 3

Here is our final look. I call it "la thug CROIX". Feel free to adopt it and turn it into a new meme.

New look vol 2

While we were thugged out, a lady I made conversation with on Friday came over and gave us two La Croix visors! So we immediately hanged our look again. For the record, we are pretending to drink LA CROIX.

New look vol 1

We changed our look to this. We were temporarily worried about thugs in the hood. Then we realized we were walking through San Diego.

The one where Kelly changed her outfit

This picture was taken after breakfast on day 3. Once Kelly saw this photo she egged me to delete it and when that failed, not to post it, an when that failed she started laughing. And changed her outfit.

Finished day 2

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YzL3Vo3WDys
Here is the "closet confessional" for day 2. This was filmed immediately after we walked into camp an collapsed into our tent.

We are feeling much better now. Also, I lied about doing insanity.

More supporters

These two gentlemen have shown up every five miles or so on the route. According to stories from other walkers, they have been cheering with their wives for years, and this year the wives decided to walk it themselves. As a result, it is just the guys cheering. They are always super positive and Kelly thought they were really cute. The guy giving a thumbs up always gives thumbs up. During the photo I accidentally had the iPhone set to movie mode, caused a delay, and the thumbs up guy said "well this is better than clapping". Apparently these are long days for supporters as well.

Dancers

Roughly a quarter mile after I shook my money-maker, we walked by Big Smile and Little Grin who have a (sorta) choreographed dance number.

Last mile day 2

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SKTkamLSltg

With one mile remaining, Jacob found some energy that he didn't know he had. Even though this is a breast cancer walk, his energy was decidedly in the trunk...

-KAB

Where's Jacob?

Sorry this is late: back when we left put stop 2 height discrimination reared it's ugly head again. Can you find me in this photo?
Note: a "real" version of this photo does exist.

We will overcome!

Kelly is managing to put a brave face on our bad news. Doesn't she look cute?

Lunch day 2

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F_BsRRSrCvs

We are about to leave lunch. We have also received some disappointing news. Watch the YouTube link to find out.

Foam Roller!

Pit stop maintenance: foam rolling an angry IT band, tight hamstrings, ad sore calves. For being such a helpful tool, man it sure does hurt!

Pit stop food

Ever wondered how 3000+ walkers manage to drag themselves 20 miles per day for 3 days in a row? Well the answer is SNACK LOADING. Here is a sample of the pit stop snacks we are eating today (yesterday prominently featured CHEE-ITS but I guess I ate them all bc they are noticeably absent today). Not pictures are: orange quarters, bananas, animal crackers, pretzels, peanuts and granola bars.

Aside from the cheezits, the best items are the Graham Snackers- two graham crackers sandwiching peanut butter and jelly! Delicious.

The ocean!

We are arriving at pit stop 2, mile 7.5. I see a punk river flowing to the ocean!

Scenic walk!

We are currently walking next to this beautiful wetland area. We just passed sea world. How are these two related you ask? Well according to the very helpful bike cops that are escorting us, "All of the sea world animals come from right here". Well. There ya go.

Pit stop 1 (part 2)

Oh yea. I made it to pit stop 1 as well. Notice the ever present height discrimination that I suffer through.

Pit stop 1!

Kelly made it to pit stop one! 3.3 miles down. Her leg is hurting so I volunteered to carry her pack. Awww!

Breakfast is served.

We eat in the big white tent on the right. The crew is a bunch of colorful volunteers. They're awesome!!

We love you, Mom!

Remembrance Tent

For those who have died from this disease.

Shots

Wine shots. Beer shots (with a lime). Pink vodka shots. "Doctor's orders" said the spectators.

We're back!

Our phones are charging right now! Hooray!

Here are some photos from yesterday we didn't get to post.

My phone is about to die but I had to showcase my loot! I received 2 sweet treats and lots of mail! How awesome is that?!

Entering camp day 1

We successfully completed day 1! We both were limping due to foot fatigue. Guess we should have trained!

Free peanuts for walkers!

This guy actually has a trunk of costumes. We have now seen him as an elephant (as pictured) and as a doctor (offering free breast exams!). It seems to be a good gig f you can get it.

Male Supporters

While the majority of walkers and supporters are female, the male contingent is extremely vocal. This gentleman is very passionate about the cause. Me too guy, me too.

The Pink Pilgrimage Begins

A river of pink shirts, feather boas, streamers, fairy wings, socks, leather chaps, crazy hats, Hula skirts etc left the Del Mar Fairgeounds at 7am.

Spectator fun

Even the police have pink on!

Even though it won, it lost

**Breaking News**
Del Mar, CA - Due to social pressures, Facial Hair for the Cure was cancelled. Participants of the program were overheard saying, "I just don't know what to do with out my Conquistador. I'm like Sampson. You know from the Bible. He cut his hair and BAM he lost all of his power."

Authorities from the 3 Day are still confident that completion of the walk is possible.

The Conquistador Won!

I know everyone was super curious which style won Facial Hair for the Cure. Well I am excited to tell you that it was the conquistador!

Fundraising Video #2

This is the ridiculous video Jacob sent out.

Fundraising Video #1

This is the first video we sent out.

We're Off!

We've raised our money. We've bought our tickets. We've designed our t-shirts. We're (almost) finished packing. San Diego, here we come!

Jacob and I will be posting (iPhone quality) videos and photos along the way because we'd love for you all to be a part of this with us. Check back frequently for updates!
